Before he could finish his sentence, and before I even knew what my body was doing, I jumped up from my seat and roared , “Get the F**K out of my house!!”
As I sprinted toward him I grabbed a bar stool from our kitchen island and charged at him.

I didn't care about his demands. I was going to give him a choice. Fight or run.

He turned around and ran. I chased him out of my garage and then called the police.

Thankfully, everyone was safe.

My body was so heavy and so filled with fear. But despite all that, I was amazed at my own display of confidence, speed, , and power.

As I reflected on this incident I realized that I had been training for the last 17 years for that type of situation.

My workout routine had prepared me to deal with extreme stress and pain. It had trained me how to control my breath and move with speed when everything in my body felt paralyzed.

It had taught me how to override those instincts of fear and face them head-on.

It had taught me how to harness my focus and energy to do the things that need to be done.
